Simcoe County Page
Starting at Lake Simcoe, located about an hour north of Toronto, and stretching all the way up to the shores of Lake Huron, Simcoe County serves as both the northern edge of the Golden Horseshoe and the entrance to Cottage Country. The two largest cities are Barrie, home to 128,000 people, located an hour north of Toronto on Highway 400, and Orillia, population 30,000, which is an hour north of Barrie on Highway 11. Barrie is also the northern limit of GO Transit service. There are also two small communities on Georgian Bay offering bus service: Collingwood and Midland.
